Students will observe GDP's of countries in Latin America and compare them to the Doctors/Cars/Literacy Rate/Life Expectancy/ and Infant Mortality to determine the relationship between the GDP and standard of living.

CW 12/11 Canada- A Mosaic of Cultures. We viewed a PowerPoint and worked on answering some questions as we discussed the cultural influences of Canada.
CW 12/7 Students were given the entire period to work on researching for their mini project. Encyclopedias and books were available. The remainder of the project must be completed at home over the next week.

Do you think World War II could have been avoided if Germany had been “punished” differently? Be sure to include details of how the Treaty of Versailles impacted Germany and how it impacted the people who lived there.
CW 11/27 Complete discussion of Germany- Divided to Reunified. Begin talking about Standard of Living and factors that impact it. Watch video on North/South Korea differences of standard of living.

Also, in 3 classes we took a candidate survey. Tomorrow we will participate in the largest online mock election using Youth Leadership Initiative. I encourage students, with their parents, to search for a couple of good online candidate selection websites and answer the questions to see who they most closely align with. For a great one, with ALL the main topics, but including controversal issues, thus WITH parent permission, Google- "2012 election pro con selection" and choose the top one. Parents, this is good for adults to do, too!

The official day was September 17, but it worked better for us to set aside today to spend a little time looking at the U.S. Constitution. Students were led in a discussion, watched a video, and answered a few questions regarding the Constitution, THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND!
