Project information:  Create a movie poster for The Illustrated Man or illustrate a scene of one of the stories that we have read in the book. If you create a movie poster, the depiction must accurately depict the contents of the book.  If you draw a scene from one of the stories, make sure that you include the title of the story as well as list the name of the book. This assignment will be a project grade, and therefore must be project quality. This assignment is due on Wednesday.

Extra Credit Opportunity:
Complete this assignment on a separate sheet of paper. Title it “The Other Foot” Extra Credit. Write down the question below and respond appropriately. List your source(s) that validate/support your answer.

In “The Other Foot,” Bradbury explains that African Americans left Earth to colonialize Mars because of the unfair treatment they received.  However, in the 1800s, a similar incident occurred in American history. Did you know that a group of freed slaves left America to set up a colony of their own? Tell me where this colony was located and what is it named?  Provide your source(s) in order to receive extra credit. This assignment is due on Wednesday.

Note: If you liked "The Other Foot,"check out Bradbury’s “Way Up in the Air” from his book The Martian Chronicles. The Illustrated Man questions, as well as a pdf copy of the book has been uploaded under the Printable Files section of my homepage. Also, as of today, I will not longer accept any more late work. Please do your best to turn in all of your assignments on time. Your teachers are working on finalizing your grades to submit for the end of the semester.

We watched a short video ("Boris the Lifeguard") that discussed and illustrated the concepts of figurative language. Students received a daily classwork grade for their active engagement and participation in this Figurative Language Workshop.

Extra Credit Option 1: Research the colonist and farmer Anthony Johnson. Tell me why Mr. Johnson is an important individual in American history, and how he connects to our recent studies about African/African Americans. Hints: John Casnor, Virginia 1640/1654, social status. (You must list your sources).
