Welcome to Mrs. Maloney's Language Arts!
- During the school year, students will be introduced to the Georgia Performance Standards curriculum. The main implemetation tool used for instruction will be McDougal Littel Literature. McDougal Littell Literature is aligned with the Georgia Performance Standards and is inclusive of the necessary performance elements needed for student mastery in Reading, Writing, Listening, & Presenting.
- Each day, students will be exposed to a rigorous curriculum in which they will work towards gaining an understanding through skills and strategies.
- The textbook, McDougal Littell Literature will be issued to the student and must be covered in a soft bookcover.
- Class begins each day with Daily Language & Grammar SkillBuilders, which provides a systematic daily review and reinforcement of the basic language skills of spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar, & word usage within a contextual, non-stressfull program. The Daily Language & Grammar are kept in their 5-Subject Notebooks that I will collect from time to time for a grade.
- Supplemental reading is described in the GA Performance Standard 25 book requirement. Each student reads a minimum of 25 grade-level appropriate books or book equivalents per year from a variety of subject disciplines. The student reads both informational & fictional texts in a variety of genres and technical texts related to various subject areas.
