3/10/2010 - Statistics have been updated for the 2009-2010 varsity season (link is here). Tentative plans are being made for the end of season Banquet/BBQ/Cookout to be held on a Saturday in April after spring break. Check back often for information on further wrestling opportunities. 

2/21/2010 - News from the State Championships: Druid Hills placed 32^nd out of 77 schools in the AAA division. Only two Dekalb County Schools in AAA, Towers and Dunwoody, out scored Druid Hills. Nickolas G., at 125, won his first two matches, one by pin and one by decision, before losing his next two matches. Alex Flowers, at 160, lost his first match in the first round, which was single elimination due to sectionals being cancelled. Johannes W., at 189, won his first three matches by pin, before losing his fourth (to the eventual champion) by 2 points, losing his fifth match by 2 points, and winning his sixth match by forfeit, thereby placing fifth. Joseph R., at 215, won his first two matches by decision before losing his third match (to the eventual three-time champion) and losing his fourth by a controversial 3-2 decision. Three of the four Druid Hills wrestlers made it to the quarter finals and one made it to the semifinals. Two hopeful state qualifiers (Yonas W. and Jacob K.) did not make it due to injuries.

2/18/2010 - News from the first day at state: Three of our four state qualifiers made it past the single elimination first round and the second round. Nick G. at 125 won his first two matches, one by pin and one by decision. Johannes W. at 189, won his first two by pin. Joseph R. won his first two, both by decision. Wish our wrestlers luck as they advance thru the state championships. Check here for updated brackets and follow their progress.

2/13/2010 - Sectionals have been CANCELED. No practice on Friday. Workout on Saturday 1:00-3:00 pm. No workout on Sunday. There will be Monday and Tuesday workouts at the usual time. State competition will start a day early and will run Wednesday thru Saturday. Weigh-ins will be Wednesday at 6:00pm. Wrestling will start at 8:00 am on Thursday. Official schedule on GHSA.net. 2/8/2010 - Five wrestlers placed at the Area 5 AAA Traditional Tournament, four qualifying for first round of state (section) and one alternate. Freshman wrestler Demetrius M. wrestled up a weight class and placed sixth in the 112 weight class to be an alternate. Senior Nick G. placed first at 125. Senior Alex F. placed fourth at 160. Senior Johannes W. placed first at 189 for a second year. Junior Joseph R. placed second at 215 for a second year. The team as a whole placed 8^th out of 12 teams in the area.

1/31/2010 - The JV Team attended the Dekalb County JV Tournament this weekend. Jerry K. won three matches. Eight graders Ray L. and Ethan H. won two and one match respectively. Eighth grader Gashaw B. won first place in the 119 pound class.

1/23/2010 - The Varsity team attended the North Metro Tournament with teams from as far away as South Carolina and Tennessee. Druid Hills ranked 12^th out of 25 teams. Yonas W. and Jonah E. each won a match. Joseph R. won fourth place at 215 and Johannes W. was champion at 189.

01/11/2010 - A special thanks to all the folks at Towers for hosting the Area 5 AAA Duals through all the weather related difficulties and during a school/work day. Druid Hills lost to Dunwoody 43-30, beat Johns Creek 52-28 and lost to McNair 48-34. Varsity wrestler Jacob K. wrestled up a weight class and fought hard to deny Dunwoody and Johns Creek wins by pin (denying them 2 points each) while allowing first year wrestler Demetrius M. to claim 12 points by forfeit. Therefore Jacob secured 16 team points in two matches. Nick G. won a match by pin and two by major decision scoring 14 team points. Julian T., Ahmad N. and Nikko G. each won a match by pin and brought home 6 team points each. Alex F. and Johannes W. each won three matches by pin earning the team a total of 36 point between them. Richard B. won two matches by pin and one by decision earning 15 team points. Joseph R. won one match by decision and one by pin to earn 9 team points. First year wrestler Elijah R. brought home 6 team points by forfeit.

12/30/2009 - The Varsity team went to the George Thompson Memorial Tournament at Winder-Barrow High school were Johannes W. and Joseph R. each placed 3rd. Below is a picture of the team stopping at a tourist spot in Winder GA.

12/22/2009 - At the William S. Venable (Dekalb County Varsity) Tournament, Johannes W. claimed the championship at the 189 weight class and Jacob K. placed fifth in the 103 weight class. Joe R. and Plamen B. contributed to the team score. Druid Hills placed a disappointing 14th out of 22 schools due to missing seven varsity wrestlers. The team is hoping to regain the line up they had at the Tara Classic in time for area competitions.

12/19/2009 - The junior varsity team competed against 18 teams at the Blessed Trinity JV Tournament. Ray L. and Gashaw B. placed fourth at 103 and 119, and Jerry K. placed sixth at 189. Other JV wrestlers who competed were Demetrius M., DeAnthony M., Jalil T., Dennis R., Micheal E., Redeate S., Alex L., Plamen B., and Elijah R.

12/19/2009 - Varsity attended the West Georgia Invitational Tournament where Jacob K. won second place and Ashdon G. won third. Again a large portion of the varsity team was unable to attend.

12/12/2009 - Five JV and four Varsity wrestlers attended the Alpharetta Raider Rumble tournament. Druid Hills placed 14^th out of 17 teams. Joe lead the team winning four of his five matches. The lineup was Demtrius at 103, Jonah at 119, Nick at 125, Nikko at 140, Arthur at 160, Richard at 171, Brian at 189, Joe at 215 and Elijah at 285.

12/06/2009 - Druid Hills attended the Jackson County Panther Invitational with six varsity wrestlers and placed 12^th out of 25 teams. Johannes W. placed 2^nd, Ashdon G. placed 3^rd and Joseph R. placed 4^th. Contributing to the team placement were Jacob K. and Nick G, who made it to the quarter finals, and Jonah E.

11/26/2009 - Druid Hills brought home the third place varsity team trophy from the Lovejoy High School Tara Classic Tournament, despite losing 2 varsity wrestlers to injury.

Individually Nick G. and Johannes W. won first place, Yonas W. and Joe R. won second place, Jacob K. won third, and Jonah E. and Ashdon G. won fourth. Alex F.,  Plamen B. and Julian T. contributed to the team win. Nine out of ten varsity wrestlers made it to the semi finals.

The JV wrestlers placed 9th out of 16 at the Tara Classic Tournament. Six Druid Hills JV wrestlers placed.

Other JV wrestlers who contributed at the tournament were Ray L., DeAnthony M., Porfirio V., Nikko Gv., Ethan H., Michael E., and Elijah R.

11/20/2009 - The first meet of the season at Chamblee High School went well despite five holes in the varsity line up. Druid Hills beat Chamblee 46 to 24 with all varsity wrestlers winning their matches. Druid Hills beat Southwest Dekalb 48 to 21 with all but one varsity wrestler winning their matches. Druid Hills lost to McNair 36 to 42. Even though six varsity wrestles won against McNair, we could not over come 5 forfeits.  Varsity wrestlers Johannes W., and Alex F. had two pins each. Yonas W., Nick G. and Julian T. had one pin each. Jacob K., Ashdon G., Joe R., and Plamen B. each won two matches.

On the JV side, three 8th grade wrestlers, Ray L, Gashaw B., and Ethan H., won their debut matches by pin. JV was led by Alex L., who won two matches by pin. Matthew W., Yashua M., Redeate S. and Jerry K. also won a match by pin.
